(COVENTRY, LEBANON) — In honor of “Read Across America Week”, State Representative Tim Ackert (R-8) visited and read to students at Coventry Grammar School and Lebanon Elementary school alongside State Representative Mark DeCaprio (R-48). Each year, Read Across America is celebrated beginning March 2nd, in remembrance of Dr. Seuss’ birthday.

Recently, I hosted a press conference fighting back against state mandated job suppression in many of our construction trades. Known as apprenticeship hiring ratios, state statutes currently limit the amount of apprentices a business can hire, shrinking our workforce, hurting our economy, and making it harder to meet our clean energy demands and hire the next, diverse generation of trade workers.

(HARTFORD) — On Tuesday, State Representative Tim Ackert (R-8) testified in support of House Bill 5204, An Act Concerning the Registration of Low-Speed Vehicles, which would allow certain low-speed vehicles to operate on roads under certain speed limits.

Right now, the majority of states have passed similar laws allowing them to gain revenue through the registration, sales taxes, and municipal property taxes on these vehicles. Additionally, many of these vehicles are commonly used by small businesses,
