Ackert Welcomes UCONN Men’s Basketball Champions to House Chambers

(HARTFORD) — Yesterday, State Representative Tim Ackert (R-8) was proudly selected to welcome the 2023 University of Connecticut’s Men’s Champion Basketball Team to the State Capitol. The team, who received an official citation from leaders of the General Assembly, were joined by Coach Dan Hurley and assistant coaches to celebrate the victory.

“Congratulations on winning the school’s fifth men’s basketball championship!”, said Ackert in his speech. “The team’s performance and buzz reverberated beyond Connecticut throughout the country. I am reminded of the term family when I look back at how you each stood together during good times and bad, as a team, as champions.”

“To the families and students moving on next year, we wish you the best of luck in your endeavors,” added Ackert. “For those students who will continue at UCONN next year, we wish you good fortune in your athletic and academic career, and thank you for choosing and representing our flagship state university.”

Ackert concluded, “Coach Hurley, your exuberance on the sideline is contagious. Thank you and to the entire team and coaching staff for returning Connecticut to the rightful place as the basketball capital of the nation!”
