HARTFORD – In honor of National EMS Week, Officials from the CT EMS Councils, EMSPro, CT Department of Public Health, and legislators from across the state gathered at the State Capitol today to award emergency responders who have gone “beyond the call.” State Representative Terrie Wood (R-Darien), as well as Executive Director of Darien Post 53 & Deputy Chief of Stamford EMS Joe Larcheveque and Darien First Selectman Jayme Stevenson, were in attendance to congratulate Dr. Dorothy Turnbull of Stamford Hospital for her lifetime of service to EMS.
Dr. Turnbull received the Dr. AE Hertzler Knox Award. The intent of this award is to recognize and commend an individual whose work has made an extraordinary, significant and lasting impact on the EMS system in Connecticut. A graduate of the Medical College of Pennsylvania with 43 years of experience, Dr. Turnbull is certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and the American Board of Internal Medicine. She has also served as the Medical Director of Post 53 for more than 30 years.
“I thank Dr. Turnbull for her life-long dedication to medicine, and for all she has done for the patients of Southwestern Connecticut,” said Rep. Wood. “The emergency room can be a daunting place, so I am very proud of the high-quality care being offered to my constituents, knowing they can rest assured that they will be in excellent hands.”
