Connecticut is facing a looming crisis with its insolvent Unemployment Compensation Trust Fund (UTF) – a crisis not seen since the 2008 recession. Yesterday, legislators and business leaders held a virtual press conference to discuss steps to avert tax increases on the state’s business community.

I would also like to remind you of an opportunity for veterans, spouses of veterans, and caregivers of veterans to receive the COVID-19 vaccination this weekend. You do not need to be enrolled in the VA healthcare system.

Where: CT Dept. of Veterans Affairs Campus at 287 West Street in Rocky Hill

When: This Sunday, April 11 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

No appointment is necessary, but you may schedule one should you choose.

Today, the Judiciary Committee heard testimony on two bills addressing the state’s escalating car break-in crisis. This is happening in multiple towns across Connecticut and many of these crimes are being committed by repeat juvenile offenders who face little to no repercussions for their actions.
