On Wednesday in the House of Representatives, I voted in favor of supporting House Resolution No. 9, which was the approval of a collective bargaining agreement between the state and the Connecticut State Police Union, but it should not end there. The last several years have been particular rough on our men and women in uniform, and as a legislature, we need to do all we can in our power to address the ever-changing challenges that our law enforcement officers are facing.

As we enter the final two days of the 2022 Legislative Session, I wanted to touch on the budget vote from last night that passed the House last night 95-52, strictly along party lines. The headlines this morning read “Largest Tax Cuts in Connecticut History”, but it is important to note that this act was an adjustment to the budget which included the budget implementer and bonding for a total of $547 million dollars, or a 6.4% increase. While there are positives within this budget that offer SHORT-term…

“I sincerely hope Democrats join Republicans in giving our constituents the much-needed relief they deserve. Connecticut residents have been overburdened by surging costs on the goods and services they need to survive. Our residents are overtaxed, their monthly budgets are blown, and immediate relief is needed to help those who need it most.” –State Representative Rick Hayes

Since last Spring, the House Republican Caucus has been front and center bringing to light the rise in crime, especially juvenile crime, across Connecticut, which is a growing concern in all 169 cities and towns. From the death of an innocent man out jogging in New Britain last June, to locked cars that are being ransacked and stolen from driveways and even from inside garages. Recently, some thieves have gotten so brazen that they’ve moved past property crimes and have begun carjacking innocent…

“Today, I stood with some of my colleagues from the House Republican Caucus to call on Democrats to launch a formal inquiry into the controversial school construction bidding scandal that is focused on members within the Lamont Administration. Connecticut residents have the right to know where their tax dollars are going and what is going on at every level of their government.
I stand by the statements of House Republican…
