SUFFIELD – State Representative Tami Zawistowski (R-61) in partnership with Suffield Emergency Aid Association, Suffield Police and Highland Park Market hosted a successful ‘Stuff a Humvee’ drive to benefit students in need. The event was held at the Suffield Highland Park Market on Saturday morning on August 8th.

By the end of the drive the Suffield Police Humvee was completely filled with note pads, pencils, rulers, back packs, lunch box items and other needed supplies. Additionally, Highland Park Market offered prepared donation bags for purchase filled with school supplies sold at cost. The grocery store also made a $2,500 donation to Suffield Emergency Aid.

“Suffield is an incredibly generous community,” said Rep. Zawistowski. “The weather didn’t keep anyone away and we completely filled the Humvee. I am extremely grateful for all the help provided by Suffield Police Department and Highland Park Market, and especially those who stopped by to donate. This event was a team effort and a great success!”

“I am pleased to report that we raised just over $3,400,” commented Emergency Aid Director Janet Frechette. “More importantly we collected enough school supplies to make sure families in need can start the school year without having to worry. I am truly grateful for the tremendous community support and to State Rep. Tami Zawistowski, the Suffield Police Department and Highland Park Market for teaming up to sponsor such a successful event. It will make a meaningful difference in our ability to respond to requests for aid from those in our community requiring a little extra help to make ends meet.”

Suffield’s Emergency Aid Association is a local non-profit founded in 1903 to provide social services and programs for residents in need. For more information please visit www.suffieldeaa.org.
