Connecticut State Representative Rob Sampson (R-Southington, Wolcott), Chairman of the General Assembly’s Conservative Caucus and Ranking Republican Member of the Insurance and Real Estate Committee, spoke with WTIC NewsTalk host Todd Feinburg about Connecticut’s political environment and baseless claims of bigotry surrounding Justice Andrew McDonald’s nomination.

Rep. Sampson made clear that his objection to McDonald’s nomination to be the next Chief Justice of the CT Supreme Court was based on McDonald’s decisions as a legislator and associate justice, specifically regarding his role in the repeal of the death penalty. McDonald’s nomination narrowly passed the House with five Democratic representatives in opposition, but did not pass the Senate where all Republicans were in objection along with one Democrat.
