TORRINGTON – State Representative Brian Ohler (R-Canaan) participated in a press conference today for FuelCell’s announcement of the company’s expansion and immediate hiring opportunities.

According to Ohler, FuelCell has been integral to the state’s overall comprehensive energy plan. The state awarded the company a contract that will allow them to double the wattage output of the Torrington plant, from the current 25 megawatts to 55 megawatts.

Rep. Ohler stated, “This is the type of state investment that is important for the progression of the state’s stagnant economy. This is a clean energy initiative that will also help diversify and strengthen private industry – it’s a win-win. Public policy that is shaped to foster the growth of local business while making a positive impact on the preservation of greenspace is the beginning of a path towards prosperity. For those who are currently seeking employment, one with a consistent living wage, with attractive long term opportunities, FuelCell has those options. I would like to thank FuelCell for inviting us to participate in this historic occasion.”
