WATERFORDThe National Society of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) brought their mission of walking to create a world free of MS to Waterford this weekend with a “Walk MS” event. State Representative Kathleen McCarty (R-38) tied up her tennis shoes and joined in.

Rep. McCarty with her granddaughter, Adelle, and Sen. Heather Somers.

The walk set off from Camp Harkness on Sunday morning, with participants fundraising nearly $74,000 for services and research aimed at helping individuals affected by MS live “their best lives.”

Multiple Sclerosis is thought to affect more than 2.3 million people worldwide, with the majority being between the ages of 20 and 50. It is an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body.
