GROTON – On Monday, November 20th, State Representative Kathleen McCarty (R-38) joined legislative colleagues on a tour of Groton’s Pfizer facility. The legislators were briefed on the time and costs that go into making new pharmaceuticals and what the corporation is doing to fight against fraudulent pharmaceuticals.

“We are proud to have Pfizer’s largest site right here in Southeastern Connecticut,” said Pfizer’s Director of State Government Relations Ken Hiscoe, who thanked the legislators for the work they do on behalf of his colleagues who work and live in their districts. “Most people are not exposed to the work and effort that goes into the drug discovery process.  While the success rate of bringing a life-saving drug to market is low, our scientists spend their entire careers persevering to find cures to the most devastating diseases.  Likewise, our global efforts to combat dangerous counterfeits are critically important to ensuring a safe drug supply in the United States and beyond.”
