HARTFORD – As a member of the Legislative Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) caucus, State Representative Kathleen McCarty (R-38) has been a long-time, active advocate for The Arc Connecticut – an organization committed to protecting the rights of I/DD individuals and promoting opportunities for their full inclusion in their communities.

Representatives of the Arc recently came to the Capitol to meet with legislators and discuss their priorities of putting people first and striving for equity, community, self determination and diversity. Rep. McCarty attended their Legislative Advocacy day to reaffirm her support for the organization and gratitude for all they have done in her Southeastern Connecticut community.

The Arc Connecticut is part of the oldest and largest charity federation in the nation that is dedicated to promoting and protecting the civil rights of people with I/DD and actively supporting their inclusion and participation in their communities. Here in Connecticut, there are 14 local chapters with more than 170 board members, 4,094 staff, and 1,806 volunteers.
