Rep. Labriola announces CT approves lower electric rates

Connecticut’s electric costs are among the five highest in the country. These inflated costs put financial strain on the budgets of families and seniors.

However, I am pleased to announce good news about the future of electric rates in Connecticut.

The state Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) recently approved generation electric rate decreases to both UI (16.9%) and CL&P (12.6%) customers.

Today State Representatives Rosa C. Rebimbas (R-70) and David K. Labriola (R-131) volunteered as Salvation Army bell ringers to raise money for local families in need during the holiday season.

The Representatives wished shoppers happy holidays as they collected hundreds of donations over the span of one hour outside the Naugatuck Wal-Mart. The store will match their collection dollar-for-dollar, with all of the money going directly to the Salvation Army.

Rep. Labriola: veterans’ license symbol available soon

In January 2013 legislation will take effect requiring the State Department of Motor Vehicles to place an American Flag icon on the Connecticut driver’s license or identification card of any qualified veteran who asks for it.

Having a readily accessible means of identifying a veteran has a number of important benefits.  The identifying mark will demonstrate to stores who offer veteran discounts that the holder is a veteran of the United States Armed Forces and qualifies for the discount.
