State Representative Noreen Kokoruda (R-101) read ‘The Polar Bear that Couldn’t, Wouldn’t Swim’ to Mrs. Bystrek’s 3rd grade class at Brewster Elementary School in Durham on Friday, March 2, 2018. Kokoruda read a book that discussed the importance of water safety and donated the book to the classroom afterwards.
“Becoming a skilled reader is essential to success in life as an adult,” said Rep. Kokoruda. “I really had a great time reading to students and am grateful for the visit. I applaud the teachers and administrators for their dedication and wish all of the students much success as they pursue their education.”
Read Across America is an annual event held on Dr. Theodor Seuss Geisel’s birthday, March 2nd, to commemorate his life’s work and his ability to captivate young audiences with his unique children’s books.
Rep. Kokoruda can be reached by phone at (860) 340-8700 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
“I really look forward to this day, and I’m glad I had an opportunity to also speak to the students about water safety and proper precautions to take around water” added Rep. Kokoruda. “Instilling a love of reading amongst our students at an early age is critical and is even linked to greater career success in any profession later in life.”
