HARTFORD – The state legislature created a not-for-profit captive insurance company to help homeowners repair or replace crumbling concrete foundations stated Rep. Tom Delnicki. On November 28, House Republican Minority Leader, Themis Klarides, officially appointed Delnicki to committee that will serve to organize the newly formed captive insurance company.
“I am looking forward to serving as a member on the Captive Insurance Company Organizing Committee. The sooner we begin the work of organizing this board the better. We not only have an opportunity to begin the process of helping people put their lives and homes back together, but we now have the funds available to start this process. I encourage folks to take advantage of the testing program and to report their crumbling foundations to the Department of Consumer Protection so that we can determine the extent of this problem,” said Rep. Delnicki.
According to Delnicki, the board is comprised of members of each of the four legislative caucuses. Additionally, there are two seats on the board for affected homeowners, as well as representation from the municipalities, insurers, and from the banking industry. The membership of the board will fulfill their duties on a volunteer basis and the board will serve as an advisement committee to the captive insurance company for the entirety of its operation.
Delnicki went on to mention that as the rest of the board’s appointments are finalized he will continue to provide updates to the residents of South Windsor, as he has done throughout the process to date, regarding the actions and progress of the captive insurer.
