Niantic Main Street and East Lyme Parks and Recreation are once again partnering up for the Niantic Bay Boardwalk 5K this Sunday, April 22nd at McCook Point Park (8 Atlantic Avenue, Niantic)! All proceeds will go towards benefiting the Miracle League of Southeastern Connecticut.

The race starts at 10:00 a.m. with registration opening at 8:30 a.m. (early registration and bib pickup will be held on Saturday, April 21st from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at McCook Park). Kids ages 2-11 can also participate in the Kids Fun Run at 9:30 a.m., which offers three courses to choose from: Quarter Mile, Half Mile and Mile. Kid runners will receive a medal and free admission to the Children’s Museum of Southeastern Connecticut!

Runners and walkers will enjoy a mostly flat course from McCook Point Park through the charming village of Niantic, down the Niantic Bay Boardwalk with a finish at Hole-in-the-Wall Beach (at the end of Baptist Lane). A post-race awards ceremony and festivities will be held at The Black Sheep (247 Main St, Niantic) at 11:30 a.m.

Strollers are allowed with walkers at the back of the race. Please note, Main Street from Haigh Ave. to Cini Park will be closed to traffic from 10-10:30 a.m.

In addition to McCook’s parking lot, parking will be available at the Niantic Center School, Charter Oak Credit Union, Methodist Street Parking Lot, the VFW and Hole-in-the-Wall beach.

The Miracle League of Southeastern Connecticut provides opportunities for children in the area with physical, cognitive and developmental challenges to participate in recreational, educational and cultural activities in an accessible, nurturing and noncompetitive environment where families can come together to cultivate new friendships and experience the joy of play. Their goal is to use fundraised dollars to construct a Miracle League field behind the Flanders Elementary School in East Lyme, serving families from Guilford to Pawcatuck. The Miracle League field will be a space where children with physical, cognitive and developmental challenges can participate in sports of all kinds in a welcoming, non-competitive atmosphere.
