Representatives of the Long Island Sound Blue plan are holding two meetings this month that will allow the public an opportunity to learn about the Blue Plan Process in detail and share their input.

When: Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at 7:00 p.m.

Where: Greenwich Town Hall Cone Room, 101 Field Point Road,

Greenwich, CT

When: Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at 7:00 p.m.

Where: Avery Point Campus Academic Building Auditorium, 1080 Shennecossett Road, Groton, CT

The purpose of the Long Island Sound (LIS) Blue Plan is to protect existing human uses and important natural habitats. I therefore encourage you to attend if interested, as your participation is necessary for the plan to best represent your needs! You will need to RSVP if you plan to attend to Christian Fox, LIS Blue Plan Outreach Coordinator, at christian.fox@tnc.org.

The “Blue Plan” legislation (Public Act 15-66) established a process by which the State of Connecticut will develop an official plan to guide future management of the Sound. This effort is conducted in cooperation with New York State so the outcome can benefit all of the Sound to the extent possible. More information is available on the project’s web site: www.ct.gov/deep/lisblueplan. The Plan will not create new regulations or restrict existing access to our shared marine resources – quite the opposite: when complete, the Blue Plan should provide protection of the Sound’s traditional human uses and marine ecology from future conflicting or incompatible activities.
