HARTFORD – State Representative Jay Case (R-Winsted) supported an executive nomination of Joann M. Ryan to be appointed to the Board of Regents for Higher Education. The nomination was confirmed by the membership of the House of Representatives via voice vote.

Case stated, “I am proud to support the governor’s nomination of Joann M. Ryan to the Board of Regents. She has great credentials to fill the position through her prior leadership roles within our community, such as her service with organizations like the Northwest Regional Workforce Investment Board, NW CT Economic Development Corporation, and School to Career Pathways. She has proven experience of identifying potential careers in our region by serving as President and CEO of the Northwest Connecticut Chamber of Commerce, and I am hopeful that she will continue to drive well-educated people to our workforce.”

As a voting member of the board, Ryan’s responsibilities will include setting statewide tuition and student fee policies, establishing financial aid policies, and oversight of the accreditation of academic programs.
