Cromwell FD, Carpino Honor Cromwell Walmart Employees

CROMWELL- The Cromwell Fire Department along with State Rep. Christie Carpino (Cromwell & Portland) recognized two Cromwell Walmart employees, Kathee Doyle and James Martel, for their quick thinking and emergency response to a fallen customer.

A customer at the store experienced a medical emergency and both Walmart employees Kathee Doyle and James Martel acted immediately to care for the fallen customer.

Cromwell Firefighter & EMT Brett Hallden said, “It takes a special kind of person to help another. Acting to help, serve, or protect someone, especially someone you don’t know, is an act of kindness, a gift to society as a whole, that isn’t seen as much as it once was. It was an inspiring experience, seeing one person helping another, all with a smile and comforting touch.”

Carpino said, “Their valiant assistance in responding to an emergency at the workplace went above and beyond their expected workplace responsibilities, displaying an act of courage and selflessness. On behalf of the State of Connecticut and the Town of Cromwell, I offer my sincere appreciation and gratitude. Both Kathlee and James embody the true spirit of selflessness and community.”

Hallden added, “This experience has changed how I view the employees of the Cromwell Wal-Mart store as they truly do put their customers first. We are lucky to have them, as well as every employee of every business in the Town of Cromwell. They help make this town what it is…a great place to work and live.”

Carpino presented both Kathee Doyle and James Martel with an official state citation and a state of Connecticut flag pin.
