HARTFORD — Veterans at the Rocky Hill Veterans’ Home will now have a proper observance of Veterans Day, thanks to Rep. Christie Carpino (Cromwell, Portland).

A veteran made Rep. Carpino aware of the lack of a proper observance on Veterans’ Day while she was on the premises listening to concerns about the home. She vowed to take action.

Carpino proposed House Bill 5110, An Act Concerning A Veterans’ Day Observance At The Rocky Hill Veterans’ Home, which bill will require the state of Connecticut to hold suitable exercises at the Veterans’ Home on November 11. HB 5110 was recently signed into law by the Governor.

“It’s very appropriate that this bill was signed into law so close to Independence Day. We are able to celebrate our independence thanks to the generations of men and women that have fought to protect our freedoms,” said Rep. Carpino.

“Connecticut veterans who call Rocky Hill home will now know that we recognize their sacrifices. I proposed this bill on behalf of all Connecticut veterans,” she said.
