CROMWELL- State Representative Christie Carpino (Cromwell & Portland), a member of the legislature’s powerful Judiciary Committee, accepted the 2013 Legislative Award from the CT Police Chiefs Association (CPCA) for her work ensuring public safety for state residents. Cromwell Police Department Chief, Anthony J. Salvatore presented Rep. Carpino with the award for her legislative advocacy last session.

At the Cromwell Police Department, Carpino highlighted the important and positive impact the Cromwell and Portland Police Departments have on their local communities.

“Twenty-four hours a day, 7 days a week- our law enforcement members are always there for us. When a resident picks up the phone and dials 911, there is never any doubt that our police officers will respond; often putting their own lives on the line,” said Rep. Carpino. “It’s an honor to work with our local officers in addressing public safety issues.”

The CPCA Legislative Award is given to legislators that have stood out in their support of our municipal police issues. Carpino played a key role last session in defeating a bill that would have reduced the amount municipal police departments from being able to keep when they seize property and assets. These funds permit police departments to provide additional public safety measures for residents.
