With Memorial Day fast approaching and in anticipation of Flag Day, I along with, State Representatives Will Duff (R-2) and J.P. Sredzinski (R-112), as well as State Senator Tony Hwang (R-28) are helping Newtown residents dispose of their worn American flags in a dignified and respectful way.
The U.S. Flag Code specifies that American flags no longer fit for service must be properly disposed, and the lawmakers are offering this service free of charge, in conjunction with Newtown VFW Post #308.The Newtown state legislative delegation will have two primary drop off locations. The drive will take place Friday, May 26 and conclude on Friday, June 14.
Drop off locations are:
• Cyrenius Booth Library, 25 Main St, Newtown
• Newtown Municipal Center, 3 Primrose Street, Newtown
Residents may also drop flags off at the VFW Post # 308 on Tinkerfield Road. Flags can be dropped off in any condition throughout the year.
