VERNON, Conn. – State Representative Tim Ackert (R-8) and State Senator Tony Guglielmo (R-35) today celebrated the 45th anniversary of Rein’s New York Style Deli with local patrons in Vernon.

Founded in 1972, Rein’s Deli was the answer to the search for a good corned beef sandwich by Bob Rein, who with his wife Betty and brother Bernie, brought authentic New York Style Jewish deli to New England. That tradition is still alive today as they celebrated their 45th anniversary. In honor of this milestone, Rein’s will be donating all of their sales from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to first responders in Vernon.

“We just finished some major renovations here in honor of our 45th anniversary,” said Assistant General Manager, Russell DeBella. “We are looking forward to the next 45 years.”

At Rein’s Deli in Vernon you may indulge in homemade soups, mounds of savory hot pastrami and corned beef on rye, hand-cut lox layered on cream cheese laden bagels, crisp potato pancakes, knishes, delectable cheese blintzes and creamy hand-made cheesecake from New York.

“I am proud to have been invited to celebrate this day with the Rein family and staff. Rein’s Deli has been such a staple in the community and today was just another example of this, as a portion of their proceeds were donated to Vernon’s first responders. I’d like to wish them many more years of continued success in the community,” said Rep. Ackert.

“Rein’s has been a staple in the community for many years, providing hot meals and job opportunities for residents,” said Sen. Guglielmo. “I am thrilled that they are still catering to the community today. I even have friends who arrange their road trips out of state, just to stop here in time for lunch. The food really does feed the soul!”
