Rep. Ackert Named 2015 Children’s Champion

COVENTRY – For the second year in a row, State Representative Tim Ackert (R-Coventry) has been honored as a 2015 Children’s Champion by the Connecticut Early Childhood Alliance (CECA).

Rep. Ackert, who serves on the legislature’s Education Committee, received this award for his leadership and advocacy on behalf of children all over the state. Locally, he is very active in Coventry’s early education collaborative STEPS. He was honored at the ceremony by STEPS Coordinator Kathryn Hassler and Board of Education member Bill Oros, who spoke on behalf of Superintendent David Petrone. The award was presented by Samantha Dynowski of the CECA.

“It has been an honor to work alongside all of you to advocate on behalf our youngest residents,” Rep. Ackert said. “I am truly grateful to the Alliance for this award and for all the work they do for Connecticut’s children.”

The CECA is an organization committed to improving outcomes in the areas of learning, health, safety and economic security for children ages birth to eight.
