COLUMBIA – State Representative Tim Ackert (R-8) and State Senator Cathy Osten (D-19) presented legislative citations to Columbia’s Horace W. Porter School 2015-2016 Teacher and Paraprofessional of the Year October 8 at the Lakeview Restaurant in Coventry.

First grade teacher Jessica Hall received the award for her hard work not only as a teacher, but as a team leader, union treasurer, social committee member, and president of the Lego Club as well. Hall has been with Horace W. Porter since 1999 and is a resident of Coventry.

Bonnie Quinn, paraprofessional for all elementary level students, was honored for her dedication to the community and its students. Despite only having been at the school for three years, she has truly made a mark. Quinn is also a Coventry resident.

“It is always such a pleasure to recognize teachers and paraprofessionals for all that they do – for their kindness and patience with our little ones, balancing their demanding workloads, and their dedication to learning,” Rep. Ackert said. “Congratulations to you both. You have truly earned this and I know you will only continue to do amazing things at our school.”
