HARTFORD – State Representative Tim Ackert (R-8) joined his fellow state colleagues in support of National Night Out (NNO), an event designed to bring members of the community together with local law enforcement to help promote neighborhood relationships among everyone involved.

“It takes a special kind of person to put on a uniform for the main reason of helping and protecting people,” Rep. Ackert said. “Whether that is a member of the military, EMT’s, police, fire department, or doctors and nurses, these men and women dedicate their lives to keeping us safe, they are the true definition of heroes.”

The first Tuesday in August has become a 30 year tradition for residents of Rockville thanks to the sponsorship and organization by the Rockville Community Alliance (RCA) and the Vernon Police Department.

Participants in NNO included members from social service agencies, churches, service-oriented businesses and other local volunteer groups working together to interact with members of the community in order to build relationships.

State Representative Tim Ackert, a guest speaker at the event, gives thanks to the local organizers of the event and first responders for their hard work in making this year’s National Night Out a success.
