Area Legislators Notify Residents about a Public Hearing Regarding Concrete Foundation Legislation

HARTFORD– Area legislators, State Representatives Bill Aman (R-14), Christopher Davis (R-57), Sam Belsito (R-53), Tim Ackert (R-8), Gayle Mulligan (R-55), Mark Tweedie (R-13), and Kurt Vail (R-52) wish to notify residents of the upcoming Insurance and Real Estate Committee public hearing on two legislative proposals regarding the crumbling foundation issue in Eastern Connecticut, H.B. 5519- An Act Authorizing Catastrophe Savings Accounts For Homeowners Insurance Policyholders and H.B. 5522- An Act Concerning Homeowners Insurance Policies and Coverage For the Peril Of Collapse, which would require homeowners insurance policies to provide coverage for the peril of collapse and mitigation undertaken to prevent all or part of the covered dwelling from falling down or caving in. The public hearing will take place on March 8th at 1:00 p.m. in Room 2D of the Legislative Office Building (LOB).

Per committee rules, to have your voice heard, you can testify in person by signing –up at 11:00 a.m. in Room 2100 of the Legislative Office Building. Speakers arriving after the completion of the sign-up will have their names placed at the end of the speaker list. You will also need to submit 25 copies of written testimony to Committee staff by 11:00 a.m. on March 8th in Room 2800 of the LOB. Testimony received after the designated time may not be distributed until after the hearing.
